Breastfeeding Help
What makes Milk different than other IBCLC clinics?
Appointment times are longer: I have found that standard appointment times don’t often allow for mothers to feel like they have had all of their needs met, and I don’t find that rushing through an appointment allows women to learn or retain information- particularly when they have a baby who is keeping them up all hours of the night. I don’t feel right leaving an appointment knowing that you haven’t been fully seen or heard- so I have moved on from standard appointment times and now offer longer appointments. Should we wrap up significantly early, I will reduce your fees accordingly, and if you need more time when our timer goes off, I will offer if my schedule allows.
The information we cover is repeated back to you, in writing: I provide a comprehensive overview of what we cover during our visit, along with feeding resources that take your needs and goals into account. Expecting anyone to remember everything we talk about at a feeding appointment is setting a lot of people up to feel lost after we’ve wrapped up, and I don’t want that for you. I email clients this information within 24 hours of being seen.
Follow up: I offer one week of follow up via email or Jane secure messaging. I want to offer enough support to ensure your success, but the reality of my life is that I take vacations sometimes! I don’t have a photographic memory! I don’t believe in offering unlimited follow up, because I strongly feel that if you are needing to check in beyond a week’s time, then you would benefit more from booking in for another appointment than you would in playing email tag.
Partners or helpers are always welcome to sit in for these appointments! Please see my FAQ page for more information on how to get ready for an appointment.
My service area stretches to all addresses within 20 km of the Anthony Henday, to allow me to get to my next appointment on time. If you live outside that area, be aware that I charge $4/km for the drive to you (you're not charged again for my drive time back to Edmonton).
If you need support outside of my availability, I offer priority booking for an additional $100. I’m not always available to do so, but when I can, I will. To request a priority appointment, please email me directly via the contact page — I’ll get back to you as quickly as possible to confirm availability.
If you find yourself here feeling like you are having a feeding emergency, please seek emergency care. And remember, fed is best, particularly if you or your baby are having a health emergency.
Booking for someone else? Purchase a gift card or slide them your credit card instead! Patient confidentiality means one email per account, and it needs to be the client!
Prenatal Class
Home Visit, 2 Hours
$365
Think of this appointment as a hybrid between a prenatal breastfeeding class and a lactation consultation. Unlike a typical prenatal class, the focus here is on your needs- that could be the basics, or you might have had problems with your last baby and you want to go into your next experience as a mother with a plan. If you have a pump, and would like to go over how to use it, have it out and ready for your appointment; we will also size you for your flanges! A breast exam and education on hand expression is included, if desired. Please consider booking this appointment to occur anywhere from week 32-36, to keep this learning fresh for your delivery.
We can also go over questions about inductions, cesareans, typical postpartum stays based on your current pregnancy history, and ways you can be proactive in labour in order to try to avoid an operative delivery! I have worked in labour & delivery, along with postpartum since 2016 and am well-equipped to go over all topics relating to delivering your baby- you can make this class what you want, and I come to you! Partners welcome.
Group Option: A prenatal lactation consultation for you and up to 3 pregnant friends. Please contact the clinic in order to arrange a booking. These appointments run for 2-3 hours. A great option for pregnant women who feel a little intimidated by the idea of 1:1 assessments, and who have friends who share a similar due date. Pricing is $200 per person, receipts will be provided to all group members individually. Partners welcome. If you require evening availability, please note that when contacting the clinic.
2 Hour Lactation Consultation
Home Visit, 2 Hours
$365
This appointment length is ideal for: most typical feeding issues! I’m happy to see you and your baby for any problem you can think of- latching issues, adjusting milk supply, pain, nipple issues, blocked ducts or skin integrity issues, bottle or breast aversions, weaning for mothers who don’t want to feel rushed, going back to work, pumping, slow or stalled weight gain, etc. If you’re not sure if you should be seeing me, head over to my contact page and reach out.
During the assessment, I am able to evaluate how you and your baby are doing with feeding, suggest changes, and offer education and support. We can also measure you for flanges if you are pumping, set up your pump and use it for the first time, and go over hand expression. If your baby hasn’t been gaining weight adequately, a pre and post feeding weight can be done as well. I only bring my scale to appointments where milk supply or weight gain has been an issue.
This appointment can be made for any time during your feeding journey, for any reason.
3 Hour Lactation Consultation
Home Visit, 3 Hours
$550
This appointment length is ideal for: mothers of twins/triplets, those who would like to go over breastfeeding and pumping issues at length (book this if everything feels hard or foreign to you, or if you didn’t take a prenatal feeding class and things are not going smoothly), and for anyone who prefers not to be rushed during an appointment and who would like the time to ask lots of questions throughout.
As per my other offerings, I only bring my scale if there has been concern about low milk supply or poor weight gain.
This appointment can be made for any time during your feeding journey, for any reason!

For single issues such as weaning, going back to work, dealing with biting, setting up a pump, as well as for general follow up appointments for mamas and babies who have seen me before and are needing more help. This appointment time is not long enough for women who would like a full feeding assessment, or if you know you have several different areas you would like to talk about during your appointment.
If you have had an initial appointment and your one week of follow up has concluded, and you find yourself reaching for your phone or laptop to contact me about something that feels important, then a follow up appointment should be booked.
1 Hour Lactation Consultation

Live outside of my range for home visits (or even out of province or out of country)? Hate the idea of having someone new over to your home, for whatever reason? Social anxiety? You or someone in your family currently too sick to have an appointment?
You can book in for a telehealth consultation instead of an in-person. These appointments are ideal for mothers and babies who do not require a hands-on assessment, but need guidance on a feeding issue or a change of plan. Video consultations are done via the Jane app to ensure your privacy is maintained. Patients across Canada are welcome to book in.
For issues that don’t need as much time as an initial feeding consultation, as well as for general follow up appointments for mamas and babies who have seen me before.
If you have seen me and your one week of follow up has concluded, and you find yourself reaching for your phone to contact me about something that feels important, then a follow up appointment should be booked.
