Breastfeeding Help

All appointments include a feeding plan that take your needs and goals into account, as well as one week of support via phone/email/secure chat on Jane. Those who have never breastfed before, or who struggled with their feeding in the past would benefit from a prenatal appointment in order to plan for success- you will save time in the long run by being prepared before your baby arrives.

Please see my FAQ page for more information on how to get ready for an appointment.
When booking, you will be directed to fill out a very detailed history. By doing so, you are optimizing your appointment time for care and problem solving, rather than me taking an entire history from scratch when we meet.

My service area stretches to all addresses within 20 km of the Anthony Henday, to allow me to get to my next appointment on time. If you live outside that area, be aware that I charge $2/km for the drive to you (you're not charged again for my drive time back to Edmonton). I also offer telehealth/virtual for those outside my service range- which means that I can treat anyone in Canada.

If you find yourself here feeling like you are having a feeding emergency, and need to see someone right away, please seek emergency care. And remember, fed is best, particularly if you or your baby are having a health emergency.

Group prenatal breastfeeding classes Edmonton

Prenatal Class

Home Visit, 90 Minutes
$275

Prenatal lactation class Edmonton

Think of this appointment as a hybrid between a prenatal breastfeeding class and a lactation consultation. You should be prepared with a list of questions and concerns, and I will gladly go through all of my usual breastfeeding basics as well. If you have a pump, and would like to go over how to use it, have it out and ready for your appointment. A breast exam and education on hand expression is included. Please consider booking this appointment to occur anywhere from week 32-36, to keep this learning fresh for your delivery.

We can also go over questions about inductions, cesareans, typical postpartum stays based on your current pregnancy history, and ways you can be proactive in labour in order to try to avoid an operative delivery! I have worked in labour & delivery, along with postpartum for 9 years and am well-equipped to go over all topics relating to delivering your baby- you can make this class what you want, and I come to you! Partners welcome.

Group Option: A prenatal lactation consultation for you and up to 3 pregnant friends. Please contact the clinic in order to arrange a booking. These appointments run for 90-120 minutes. A great option for pregnant women who feel a little intimidated by the idea of 1:1 assessments, and who have friends who share a similar due date.  Pricing is $200 per person, receipts will be provided to all group members individually. Partners welcome.

Live outside of my range for home visits (or even out of province or out of country)? Hate the idea of having someone new over to your home, for whatever reason? Social anxiety? You or someone in your family currently too sick to have an appointment?
You can book in for a telehealth consultation instead of an in-person. These appointments are ideal for mothers and babies who do not require a hands-on assessment, but need guidance on a feeding issue or a change of plan. Phone consultations can be booked any time, video consultations may need to be booked on specific days- either contact me before booking, or I will reach out once you have booked if the appointment time or day needs to be moved in order to ensure adequate wifi is possible. Video consultations are done via the Jane app to ensure your privacy is maintained. Patients across Canada and USA are welcome to book in.
